When referring to ignorance i’m more so thinking of people making decisions based upon being uneducated. Thus, the man displayed ignorance when he relied on previous voyages on a ship that was no longer in the same condition that it was when the last voyage took place. As you mentioned, making decisions based upon being ignorant can affect the people around you.

Wow, I completely agree with your last statement. You stated, “There are some truth in Clifford’s reasoning for the fact that if your belief is unjustified and you act upon that belief you can cause harm. But I wouldn’t say that it’s wrong or causes harm all of the time.” If i’m not mistaken in my blog i feel as though i had mentioned that yes people do need evidence for their beliefs. However, at some point through repetition and the idea of causation there are certain things we can just take as truth based upon other peoples’ experiences.

I can relate to you to some extent. I sometimes feel like this life we are living is just an illusion or a dream. That there should be more to the world, or more that i could offer the world, in regards to self purpose and worth. Then I have to snap myself back into what we call “reality”.
I think Social media, especially films, have this way of creating and advertises a story or image that is realistic and similar enough to our life and adds or sprinkles that perfect pinch of “magic” in order for us to crave it and desire a so called fictional life.

I agree as well, art itself is subjective to those who view it. For example you find art in fashion. While others find art in different things such as dance or even sports. Its what you find passion in, and with that emotion it invokes emotion as well as affection.

Overall, i came to somewhat the same understanding. When reading the article I thought it made sense. In a way it seemed so black and white. However now that you pose that question i see where the confusion stems from. How does an individual know when to trust there senses? In my opinion i thought he didn’t want to trust our senses in general. Due to the fact that they can be deceiving. Which then comes to the his reasoning of how the mind and body are separate.

I really enjoyed this video. It made me feel like a kid again. You know right before you go in on your first kiss and everything is so innocent and pure in a way? That video evoked a lot of emotion out of me. Same as you had stated, happy, giddy, lustful etc. I too take on the belief that art takes on many different forms.

WOW i’m sorry but this is such an amazing post! Couldn’t have said it any better! I agree with you 100% Yes art should be “infectious” and evoke emotion out of individuals! However, not all art is capable of reaching or touching everyone emotionally. Like you stated, someone’s art could be so specific that only a handful or even just one person may only be able to relate to it. But that is the beauty of it, art connects individuals and regardless of how many people it connects we can’t just disregard the art itself.

I can see what you are saying. As far as how can we take what this man is saying as truth when we ultimately just don’t know because we can’t see that perspective. This feeling of something being unknown reminds me of The Allegory of the Cave. We are in the phyical world and these Philosophers are in the outside world, holding all these different perspectives. Which one do we buy into so to speak? Similar to religion as you had mentioned so many people believe they hold the key to the “after-life” yet which one is the truth?

Exactly, one of the shipowner’s mistakes was indeed the fact that due to his previous successful voyages he would now be able to have another one. Which ultimately lead to the fatality of his crew and his ship being wrecked which would describe how making presumptions based upon previous outcomes is wrong. In other words there needs to be evidence at all times and for each scenario.
